Just cause its gonna be Christmas really soon, and i'm in the mood for some christmas-y feel. Pity i'm gonna be leaving for Athens, at 2350hrs on the 24th of December...
Gonna have extra long christmas considering that when i land in Athens, Christmas just began! 48hours of christmas without the family, but probably good boxing-day sales will be on

| Kind old man |

In 5 days, I'll officially be in the skies for 28months, and throughout this entire period, i've most definitely gotten a chance to see an array of people. The different types of people in this world, literally.
The ones who think they own the airlines or those who rather go unnoticed throughout the entire flight The ones who thinks that there are maids onboard to clean up after them, be it toilet manners or the simple task of being mannered enough to at least have your tray a little neater during collection, just so we wont risk spilling open milk sachets on your precious silk blouse. At times, if i could, i would wanna give them a little piece of my mind. Is it that expensive to buy a copy of the Straits Time at the arrival hall, if you didnt manage to get one onboard? Would it kill you to eat the grilled chicken instead of the panfried hoki? Allergies aside, that is.
All this said and done, i have to admit, majority of the passengers are pretty easy to appease Then there are the ones who (VERY VERY VERY RARELY, like my sister taking to swim training) are really just too kind, too forgiving and too non-hassle free, i cannot even comprehen
Just yesterday back from NZ, we were serving the panfried fish with fried rice & breaded pork with mash potatoes. Naturally, as i inch closer and closer to the last passenger, it will also mean that most of the time, there's a shortage of the largely popular choice, in this case: THE PORK.
Came up to this cute old man, the kind who wears checkered shirt with vest, a big squarish specs and a postboy hat. As luck would have it, there wasnt the choice of meal and so i gave him his tray first, only to come back with the meal a little while later. Carried on with the rest of the other 8 passengers whom few of them also wanted the Pork choice. HW came by with the meals and there i was, happy with myself that everyone maanged to get their choice of meals, totally forgetting about that poor guy sitting quietly at 33D.
Icecream and Coffee came and went, he still hadnt alerted me. Neither did it occur to me that he hasnt gotten a meal.
It was only when i was doing collection when he returned me a tray sans the main course. My heart sank, and realised to my utter horror that his meal never made it to him. There he was, sitting patiently, not making a single noise and even calling me silly, when i apologized to him profusely. I had to make it up to him, He was being just too nice, tears welled up in my eyes, threatening to fall any second from now. ): I went back and find what ever food i could source to try to make it up to him. Vanilla pod biscuits, Chocolate profiteroles and a hot cuppa tea was all was left. I would have gone to the other classes had it not been the bad catering service in NZ.
His kind eyes glimmered, while his wrinkly hand patted mine, reassuring me that it is really really ok and that he doesnt want to bother me. (???!!!!!!!) how in the world has the table turned to this?! Thanking God that at least its him, and not some nasty passengers who would probably have chewed my head off even before icecream was served.
As we landed into Singapore, and him disembarking the plane, i apologized to him once more and he reaches out and gives me a firm handshake that surprises me, looking at how frail he is. Giving me a look, saying, ' oh dont worry about it really. ' pats pats my hand and slowly makes his way out of the plane.
He was also the one who didnt want a headset and was contented on looking that the flightpath channel for the 10 1/2 hours flight. |
